Why this site exists

The main quiz includes twelve animal archetypes selected for distinct patterns of social energy, pace, risk, structure, empathy, and cognition. Separate mythical and sea-animal quizzes use their own result sets. The therian page is explicitly a reflection tool, and the spirit-animal page distinguishes an editorial archetype from living Indigenous traditions.

How the product is built

The site is statically generated with Astro. Most pages ship as HTML and CSS without application JavaScript. Quiz and calculator pages hydrate one focused React component. Scoring runs locally and deterministically: the same complete answer path always returns the same ranked result. The Chinese zodiac calculator uses stored Lunar New Year boundaries instead of a year-only shortcut.

Performance and accessibility are product requirements. Answer choices use radio semantics, keyboard interaction is supported, focus moves with the quiz, artwork has meaningful alternative text, and reduced-motion preferences disable decorative transitions. Responsive images reserve their dimensions and use modern formats to reduce download weight.

Editorial standards

Every result is written as archetypal storytelling. We do not call quiz similarity “accuracy,” present high percentages as certainty, or use medical and mental-health questions to create drama. Kids are never asked for a name, age, school, location, or contact information. Cultural topics receive visible context rather than a disclaimer hidden in the footer.

Corrections should improve clarity rather than protect a clever phrase. We prefer plain explanations of scoring and privacy. Generated illustrations are reviewed for subject accuracy, absence of embedded text, useful cropping, and respectful presentation before they become production assets.
